The 6387 yard, par 70 golf course is set in over 200 acres of beautiful parkland and woodland in the heart of Sherwood Forest, within the old Rufford Abbey Deer Park. During your round you will be spoilt by the spectacular views of the Rufford Lakes and Rufford Abbey within the famous Sherwood Forest.
The course has been carefully designed to compliment the naturally undulating parkland landscape. It has had extensive input from architects such as Donald Steel and Associates and its current design consultants are the company led by Ken Brown, the BBC commentator & former Ryder Cup player.
A fantastic all weather course having the benefit of being constructed on a free draining sandy base provides quality playing surfaces throughout the year.

The English Golf Union, when staging the 2006 England Boy’s Amateur Stroke Play Championships, described Sherwood Forest Golf Club as being ‘in a league of its own’. As a premier course the Sherwood Forest Golf Club has hosted many national competitions over the years, including the ‘British and English Seniors’ and regional qualifying for the ‘Open Championship’.

Wellow Dam has undergone major work over the last few years, including metal stages on all 25 pegs; Pegs 1 and 25 cater for disabled anglers. A path has been laid to make access a little easier to and from all pegs. A five year re-stocking plan is now in its fourth year, with roach, bream, tench and carp stocked in good numbers to complement the already good head of fish found in Wellow Dam. Wellow Dam is run by Thoresby AC and day tickets are available on the bank at £4.50 per rod.
